Clethra Alnifolia, also known as Summersweet or Sweet Pepperbush, is a unique plant. This is one of the few plants that will bloom in shady locations. This plant is native to swampy areas and blooms in late summer. If you are looking to create a hedge by woodlands Summersweet is a contender.
If you are looking for an addition to your pollinator garden that blooms later in the season, pollinators love Clethra Alnifolia. This shrub is on the smaller side and that makes it ideal for smaller gardens.
How to care for Clethra Alnifolia:
This plant is a low maintenance plant that can be in full sun to part shade. It likes medium to wet soil that is consistently moist and acidic sandy soils.
This plant is relatively free from any serious insect or disease problems. This is a very low maintenance plant.
